First, I know it’s a collection agency because:

1.) The Call is from INDIA
2.) They call me by a name I haven’t used in 7 years. (Old Married Name)
3.) They are evasive about answering my questions while they are trying to get my current information. HOW THEY GOT MY PHONE NUMBER ON MY CELL IS BEYOND ME!!!!
4.) When he FINALLY gets to the point (after I badger him to fucking get to the POINT)
5.) He first says it’s a Franklin Mint Credit Card.
5.a) There is no such thing
5.b) My Ex-husband once bought something from them however.

1.) They bought a debt from my ex-husband (which I am sure he didn’t pay, he stiffed me for $30,000.00 of debt when he disappeared. So yeah I’ve no doubt he stiffed Franklin Mint for a couple of hundred bucks.)

But you know what? He’s also freaking DEAD NOW! He died 02/17/2009 chase his WIDOW not his ex-wife for the debt.

2.) THey can’t legally make you pay something that OLD anyway. Anything over 7 years that is not on your credit report you are NOT OBLIGATED TO PAY even if they try to convince you otherwise.

In case this happens to you know your rights. This is the newest thing in collections. They buy ANCIENT debts that have been written off for YEARS. Then they try to force you to pay.

If you acknowledge the debt or make ANY SORT of payment it’s BACK ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT AND THEN THEY HAVE YOU!

If it’s not on your report and it’s more than seven (7) years old. HANG UP ON THESE DOUCHE-BAGS. Then threaten to report them to the police for harassment if they continue to call you.

That’s not even *MY* debt. It’s a debt from an ex-husband who is now DEAD. not mine, not gonna pay it. I paid ENOUGH of his freaking debts when we divorced so I could bring my credit back from the dead WITHOUT CLAIMING BANKRUPTCY THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! I paid enough, I’m not paying not another red cent for a man who USED ME, CHEATED ON ME, LEFT ME WITH MOUNTAINS OF DEBT AND WHO IS NOW FREAKING DEAD.
